Hello all,
I love that we have this blog so we can share great information! I apologize to everyone for being late but I do have a great resource. I love Scholastic and i really like how they have their website set up and how it has so much information. One specific part of the website that i like is how they give new teachers hwlp on creating lesson plans. I know that this resource isn't specifically about books but I feel that it is a huge help and by having a good plan you will be led to great books.
Hope you like it!!

My 3 Technologies
The three technologies i looked at were music, communication and webcast.
1.) Music-iTunes
2.) iTunes is a way to load music to your iPod. It can also download movies and games onto your iPod. It can be useful in a classroom because a teacher could put music onto an iPod and play it through an iPod dock.
3.) I had a friend teach me what I needed to know about iTunes. I still don't know how to work all of it but i know enough to get by. Basically the only thing i know how to do is search for music, add music to my library, and sync to my iPod. I feel that for people the are really into iPods that iTunes could be for someone that uses their iPod a lot and has patience.
4.) http://www.itunes.com i am not really sure how to show you how it works so i have posted a link for you to check it out and see what you think if you have never used it before.
5.) The only suggestion or tip I have would be to be patient had get a full understanding so that you can use every aspect of iTunes and teach other people likei was taught.
Second Technology
1.) Communication- Facebook
2.) Facebook is a way for people to post pictures, leave messages, have blogs, or just chat. It is very useful because, people can look at what other people or doing just my reading their comments and looking at pictures. I like it because i can talkto people i haven't talked to in a long time without having that awkward face to face or phone conversation. It is very user friendly and i would recommend it to anyone.
3.) I would hear everyone talk about it and kind of wondered what it was so one day i created an account. I loved using it because i always love looking at people's pictures. (not in a creepy way)haha. It was so easy to learn; i was using it everyday within a week. i was setting up my profile and adding pictures and everything i could do.
4.) i am not sure how to posted projects but the link is www.facebook.com.
5.) My tips for using facebook would be to learn how to use everything and take advantage of it. I feel that it is really helpful and fun to use. There is so much you can do on there and people like to see what other people are doing.
Third Technology
1.) Wedcasting- Youtube
2.) Youtube is a way for people to post videos. these can be anything from tv clips, news clips, music videos, or home videos. Youtube would be very helpful in a classroom because you can use it as an example or demonstration.
3.) Youtube was something that i really didn't "learn" to use. it just sort of happen i discovered it on my own exploration and have used it every since. i actually used it in my Physical Education Class. we had to create a lesson plan and have a demonstation and my group used it as our demo.
5.) My tip for youtube woudl b to take time and just explore it because you will never see all of the videos and there are some on there that are just so so funny that you wouldn't even believe it and there is a video about absolutly everything.

Technology
The thing that interest me the most is the fact that this is a growing project. I love how in the next few years almost if not already every college student and some high school students will have the opportunity to take advantage of these online opportunities. I think that the sentence that I thought about the most was “Students completed an online, automatically scored post-test for each unit.” I really have mixed about this statement. One feeling I have is that it is really important for students to have a unit test. On the other hand I feel that having a unit test where students know that it will be “open book” they are not likely to get as much out of the class. I think that in these types of classes the teachers need to challenge their students more so than they would in a normal class room setting.
I think that my main question would be, how would teachers know what technological advice to give their students if they begin to have problems. The only real sense I have of the is do extensive training on the teachers before they can teach the class. Although the students may only have small problems there will always be a few big problems occur.
I can really connect this to my life for the simple fact that I have taken online classes and I have had problems with some of them. The problems I had were not only just with it being confusing but there were technical problems as well. One example would be, I was having problems downloading the required programs so I called the professor and they know kind of what to do and when it got to the point that he didn’t know he just told me to called tech support. As I said I think that online classes can be confusing for the fact that you do not have that one on one interaction to ask your questions.
I understand on technology is growing and that it is important for a classroom but I feel that they have put to much weight on technology in classrooms. I feel that it is important to have some technology but I don’t agree with having no classroom interaction. I feel that especially in high school and junior high it just makes the teachers lazy and not put as much effort into their class. Whereas a teacher that integrates really well is introducing the students to new things as well as using the old school methods that I think are also important.
I think that HWC’s are a good source for personal use but I feel that they are not necessary for academic achievement. With HWC’s this allows students to basically cheat. So many students feel that they can get away with using the internet to easily access their answers. With HWC’s it is just a way for students to eliminate class discuss and use their HWC to communicate.
I think that this is a serious issue to think about and teachers need to use their best judgment on when it is most appropriate to use these methods.

Hello! My name is Hannah Cox and I am going into my second year at IUPUI. My major is Elementary Education and Special Education. I live in Bedford, In during the summer and Indy through the winter. I enjoy doing things such as making stained glass, riding motorcycles, and traveling. I have a boyfriend as you can see in the picture and 2 dogs, Mazy and Prissy.
I have created this blog due to the W200 class at IUPUI and this is my first blog. Although I know a lot of people that have them, I just never really had a desire to make my own. (until now) I guess I just didn't know how simple it really was. Using blogger sis very simple and it is a really good tool to know how to use. I would give blogger a thumbs up for making it so easy and straight forward. It is just another step by step process.
If I was to give one tip about blogger it would be to think of a name that is unique and that people will know whose it is right away. Don't use mine as an example it is very plain and it could be anyone in the class. HAHA
